Hospital Spotlight: Why Hospital Puerta de Hierro Andares Gets So Much Attention
Hospital Puerta de Hierro Andares is one of the private hospitals that most often comes up when people research advanced care in Guadalajara. Hospitales Puerta de Hierro as a tertiary-care hospital group and the only hospital group in western Mexico that is part of the Mayo Clinic Care Network. That matters because it signals a system built around high-specialty medicine, international collaboration, and more complex diagnostic and treatment pathways.
The Andares campus itself is designed for that level of care. Its Elite Specialty Tower is a 23-story medical tower, and the hospital’s lower levels include diagnostic imaging, operating rooms, intensive care, a blood bank, laboratory services, luxury patient rooms, a pharmacy, and direct connection to its ambulatory surgery and ophthalmology units. The hospital has emergency services operating 24/7 and laboratories that offer more than 3,000 clinical studies across the system.
One of the most distinctive features at Andares is the Minimally Invasive Hybrid Center. The hospital combines a hybrid operating room, a hemodynamics room, and the Artis Pheno robotic C-arm system to support highly precise image-guided procedures. More recently, the Andares team has publicized several milestones that show the level of medicine being practiced there, including the first private-hospital implantation in Mexico of the HeartMate 3 ventricular-assist device in April 2026 and the first bilateral lung transplant in the history of Jalisco in late 2024.

Orthopedic Care: Why Faster Diagnosis Matters
Orthopedic care is about much more than surgery. It starts with an accurate diagnosis, because joint pain, spine pain, stiffness, instability, weakness, and reduced mobility can come from very different problems. Arthritis, tendon injury, meniscus damage, ligament tears, bursitis, nerve-related pain, fractures, and degeneration may feel similar at first, but they do not all need the same treatment.
That is why good orthopedic care begins with the right combination of specialist evaluation and imaging. Depending on the case, that may mean X-rays, MRI, ultrasound, CT, bone density testing, or a more focused physical examination to determine whether the issue is inflammatory, mechanical, degenerative, traumatic, or nerve-related. In many cases, non-surgical treatment comes first, including rehabilitation, bracing, medication, injections, or targeted physical therapy. Surgery becomes part of the conversation when structure is clearly compromised or function continues to decline despite conservative care.
For people exploring orthopedic care in Guadalajara, the main advantage is coordination. When imaging, specialist access, treatment planning, and follow-up can happen in a more organized way, people spend less time waiting and more time understanding what the real problem is and what the smartest next step should be.

Featured Conversation: Live By Design – Mexico Edition
I recently had the pleasure of joining Taniel on Live By Design: Mexico Edition for a conversation about life in Mexico, healthcare, opportunity, and the story behind Mexico Health Concierge. As a Canadian who has lived in Mexico for more than 30 years, it was a chance to talk honestly about what people often expect before coming to Mexico and what they can actually find here when they have the right information and support.
In the episode, we talk about why Mexico has become an important option for people exploring private healthcare, what makes Guadalajara such a strong medical hub, and how Mexico Health Concierge helps coordinate the non-clinical side of the healthcare journey. We also discuss why trust, communication, and practical guidance matter so much when someone is considering care in another country.
If you have ever wondered what private healthcare coordination in Mexico really looks like, this is a great place to start.
